Americanism Contest Entries Due by March 2025

Hello Auxiliary Members, Volunteers, and Friends,

By now, some of you have seen the sample “Star Spangled Kids” kits I sent to Winter Conference. Through the generosity of a national grant, we received starter items at the Department. Even though we didn’t have enough items for every unit, we thought Winter Conference would be a good place to distribute what we received. A letter is posted below that shares ideas about how you can make these kits with your own unit. Our hope is that you can get kids in your community excited about Americanism, the U.S. Constitution, and U.S. history.

At a quarterly Americanism meeting with other Departments, we were encouraged to spread the word about working as a Legion Family for Americanism. Support Legion baseball in your communities in any way possible. Another thing you can do is support the Oratorical contest. An appreciative audience is encouraged!

Please — report, report, report. I look forward to reading about all the great things your unit is doing for Americanism. Please send pictures (not embedded in the document) and short narrative to me at americanism@ndala.org.

Not sure if what you are doing is Americanism? Don’t worry. Just send me info on whatever your unit is doing and I will pick out what falls under this program. Don’t forget that what you do volunteering with other organizations in your community/church/schools should be reported as well. All you do counts and makes a difference.

Have a wonderful spring!

Shauna Dubuque, Chairman
